“I have been with Jill's STRONG & STEADY group for a year or so and one of the things that keeps us positive each week is the variety of ways in which Jill uses quite ordinary materials to help exercise different areas of our bodies. One such example for me was the introduction of plastic spiky balls! I hated them to begin with and have to say and I made it quite clear at the time. We had to roll them round on the floor with our feet, working them round the sides, backwards and forwards. They hurt my feet. I have a condition called peripheral neuropathy which means that the front ends feel permanently numb and cold and later I found that using the lighter of a pair of these balls actually began to make an improvement to that sensation! We have fun trying out these things in the group which I attend weekly to help me learn how to get down to the floor and back up again without assistance and also gain strength, balance and mobility but most importantly the tea and biscuits post session is a great opportunity to meet new people and share our thoughts on how to move more as we get older!”

Jill took his disabilities in her stride and with calm, encouraging Bikeability instruction introduced the joy of cycling to my son. Not only has his balance, spacial awareness and safety routines vastly improved, he has started to enjoy riding his bike, feeling more confident that he can keep his balance whilst undertaking basic safety awareness. If your hat is baggy she will tighten it or if your trousers are baggy she will fold them up and tuck them into your socks. I learnt to zip my coat up otherwise it would get caught and be dangerous. She taught me how to ride up the big hill in the pump track, which made me feel very happy. “Just went to my first Athlefit class in Settle. The key words for this class are accessible and another good one - friendly. The participants work at their own pace in a variety of cleverly put togehter exercises. It is run in a cicuit format and allows maximum interation. Jill is a keen eyed instructor and is very strong on technique. This is a good class for people wanting to start an exercise programme, for people who are fit and want to maintain a level of fitness and is suitable for any age. Recommended!”
